About Amy Lovett
Amy Lovett's artistic background includes fine art training and a BA degree in Interior Design from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa AL. In 2015, after over 25 years as a professional interior designer and antiques dealer, she retired from the retail business world to spend more time with family. However, she recently joined the staff of Montgomery Antiques & Interiors to help launch their new second location in historic downtown Montgomery AL.
Artistic talent is prevalent in the Amy's family. She credits her mother and her grandmother, both accomplished Birmingham AL artists, as her earliest art teachers and creative mentors at home. In her north Alabama hometown of Huntsville, Amy continued her art instruction under Stephanie Phillips Rabidou and John White. At the University of Alabama she chose to put her artistic talent to practical use, pursuing the study of interior design... a field that encompasses both fine and decorative arts, art history, and architecture. Historic architecture and classic decorative art references frequently influence Amy's artwork.
The subject matter of Amy's artwork is varied. Her compositions include figurative and still life works, landscapes, and the occasional portrait. When painting she prefers to use acrylic pigments because of the versatility of texture and technique they allow. Other favorite media include charcoal, pencil, and pastels. Works by Amy have been shown in various galleries and have been purchased by collectors in the United States as well as the United Kingdom. Commissions for late 2019 aand 2020 are currently being considered.
Amy lives in Montgomery Alabama with her husband Gary Oos.
